Windust Point Cast

Price: $24.00

A cast of an authentic Windust projectile point. The original was made in obsidian, and found in Crump Lake, OR. It meastures 3 and 3/16 inch long and is 1 and 1/16th wide.  The Windust Archaeological Phase in the northern Great Basin and Columbia River Plateau dates around 7,500 to 10, 500 years ago.  Many of the excavated layers from this complex are covered in layers of volcanic pumice from Mt. Mazama around 6,000 years ago.  Obsidian is a common raw material for Windusts.  This is a classic and well flaked example of the type, which is at the transition of Late Paleo/Early Archaic.  It has bi-convex flaking from both percussion and pressure, and abraded stem edges.  This type often features pressure flakes up from the base in the same direction as the true flutes of the Paleo period earlier.
