Magdalenian Blade Core Cast

This wonderful example of a upper paleolithic blade core is from France(St. Dramont, Eyral, La Chapelle Aubrareuil)  It was sent to Occpaleo for casting in 2011, on loan from the Jerry Sherman collection.  It is made in the classic "Silex Blond" french flint, and dates to the Magdalenian period of around 12 to 17,000 years ago.  This piece is a great teaching tool, as it shows the process of reduction and use, but it not fully exhausted.  It shows a classic core that is still in its use stage.
