Cast of Plainview Point

Price: $25.00
A cast of an authentic Plainview point from Oklahoma, dating to around 9 to 10,000 years ago.  The original was made in tan chert, and sent to Occpaleo for molding in 2014, and is now ready in a high grade urethane epoxy.  This type of projectile point was used in the Late Paleo/Early Archaic for hunting such prey as the extinct Ice Age Bison.  It has a similar appearance to the well known Clovis points in that it has a flute at the base, but it is made with a different reduction strategy and sharpening style.  This example measures 3 and 1/2 inches long and 1 and 1/16th inches wide.  Plainview has a wide range of distribution, and is all through the Great Plains and as far south as Mexico.  This example was found in Oklahoma. (COA Stermer 2010)  Cast copyright Occpaleo 2014.
