Big Sandy points date from around 3,000 to possibly 11,000 years ago in the midwest to southeast United States. They were typed and named after the Big Sandy site in Henry county, Tenn. At the Modoc Rock Shelter in Illinois, these points were found at archaeological levels which date around 10 to 11,000 B.P. which classifies them as a transitional Paleo/Archaic type. The authentic original was loaned to Occpaleo in 2011 for casting from the Pailler collection, and is an excellent example of the type. At 102 mm long, it is also one of the largest examples found.
